Custodian

Role Overview The Custodian plays a vital role in ensuring school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and ready for daily activities. This position involves a mix of hands-on cleaning, routine maintenance, and team leadership to oversee the upkeep of district facilities.

Typical Work Activities

  • Inspections & Readiness: Perform regular inspections of buildings and grounds to ensure proper cleaning procedures are met. Responsible for locking/unlocking facilities and ensuring they are heated and prepared for all scheduled events.

  • Maintenance & Repairs: Operate and monitor heating systems. Perform minor repairs involving plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and mechanical systems.

  • Leadership & Execution: Lead and participate in daily cleaning tasks, providing oversight to other team members performing these activities.

  • Collaboration: Consult with supervisors regarding complex maintenance issues and provide recommendations for the purchase of supplies and equipment.

Maintain expertise in all aspects of technology

  • Continually stay educated in all areas of technology
  • Research new issues that may arise to ensure a solution
  • Support any immediate technology issues in classrooms and conference rooms
  • Ensure all IT policies, data security, and compliance requirements are followed by all users

Network and Servers

  • Support staff and students with network connectivity issues.
  • Monitor, maintain, and patch servers and access points. Active Directory
    • Maintain Active Directory accounts

Copier Support

  • Maintain the working operation of multi-use copiers
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot copier performance problems.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Xerox Support Team.
  • Resolve Papercut issues

Chromebook and Student Support

  • Troubleshoot Chromebook problems
  • Perform basic repairs
  • management of the 1:1 program

Laptops and Workstations

  • Responsible for maintaining staff laptops and workstations (Windows 11)
  • Install appropriate software
  • Provide staff support

General Technology Support

  • Inventory Maintenance

  • VOIP support
