Bloomfield School District is seeking a highly qualified, dedicated, and leadership-oriented Director of Facilities. This vital role oversees the safe, clean, and efficient operation of all district buildings and grounds. The Director is responsible for supervising maintenance and custodial staff, managing department budgets, purchasing equipment and supplies, and ensuring strict compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations—including fire codes and educational department requirements.
Supervise, schedule, evaluate, and mentor all custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping staff.
Coordinate staffing plans and shift schedules to ensure continuous coverage for daily school operations and special/after-school events.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and professional pride within the facilities team.
Ensure all district facilities strictly comply with local and state building codes, fire codes, and OSHA standards
Coordinate regular safety inspections, including water testing, and structural safety assessments; maintain meticulous compliance records.
Serve as the primary liaison with local fire departments, health inspectors, and state regulatory agencies.
Manage the facilities department budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
Oversee the procurement of custodial supplies, maintenance equipment, and contracted services in compliance with district purchasing policies and state bidding laws.
Maintain an accurate inventory of assets, tools, and supplies.
Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems.
Oversee long-range capital improvement plans and facility preservation projects.
Act as the district’s representative/project manager when working with architects, engineers, and outside contractors.
Project management experience
Understanding of laws and regulations, along with the willingness to keep up with changes
